Some time ago, the skills evaluation platform CodeSignal released the "2022 US CS College Employment Ranking".
CodeSignal has a long history. Meta, Zoom, Uber and other giants are its partners. They use the programming test tools developed by Meta to screen talents.
It can be said that CodeSignal's list can well reflect the job hunting competitiveness of CS graduates from American universities.
So which university CS graduates are most favored by big factories this year? You may be surprised!
Before revealing the answers, let's first understand the ranking basis of this list.
CodeSignal only refers to one index when ranking the school, that is, the pass rate of the students in the CodeSignal programming test.
This test only tests one kind of ability, that is, the ability of students to solve practical problems in industry.
Here is the complete list to see which universities are on Top 10:
UVA defeats traditional computer ceiling CMU? Many familiar names haven't even entered the top 10?
In fact, the reason why schools like UVA stand out is that UVA not only focuses on teaching students one or two common coding languages, but also teaches them how to use complex algorithms to solve any computer programming challenges they may encounter.
In UVA, every CS student will receive employment guidance and interview guidance from his sophomore year to learn how to cooperate in practical projects.
In this test, UVA students got nearly perfect 846 points. The score range is 600-849. CodeSignal said in its report that more than 800 points represented 84% of the students, and said that "excellent computer science foundation and outstanding ability to implement scalable applications".
Among the UVA candidates, 43% scored higher than 800. Carnegie Mellon University ranked second, at 33%.
Swarthmore College has unique experience in CS education. An alumnus posted in Quora that the school would hardly set up courses in popular programming languages.
The school hopes to train students' critical thinking and communication skills through liberal education, and teach students how to find ways to solve practical problems.
Because of this, Swarthmore College has become the biggest dark horse on the CodeSignal list.
